Some facts about Agni IV which was test fired successfully on 2nd January 2017

On 2nd January 2017, Inter Continental Ballistic Missile Agni IV was successfully test fired by Strategic Forces Command from a road mobile launcher. The launch was made at Abdul Kalam Island off Damra Village on the Odisha coast.

Some facts about Agni IV –

1. Has a range of 4000 km.

2. It is capable of carrying one tonnee of highly explosive nuclear warheads.

3. It is being developed under the Integrated Guided Missile Development Program by Defense Research and Development Organisation.

4. It is a surface to surface Missile equipped with highly efficient avionics and capability to correct itself during in-flight disturbance thereby providing greater reliability.

5. It’s heat shield can withstand temperatures upto 4000 degree centigrade.
